Dear Friend of Full Circle Farm,

Metamorphosis! is Full Circle Farm’s theme for 2012–a pretty big concept to live up, but starting a new farm in Silicon Valley just four years ago was considered almost unbelievable at that time too. In fact, first-time visitors are astonished to find such a treasure in the midst of one the most important technology centers on earth. Today, I am reaching out to you to help us sustain this delightful anomaly in our urban landscape. Your financial support is more critical than ever and has never had a greater impact. Full Circle Farm touched the lives of over 15,000 children and adults last year. With a small staff and thousands of volunteers, we are changing our local food system and offering a new model for community-based urban agriculture. Please help us continue this legacy into 2012 and beyond!

2011 was a remarkable year at Full Circle Farm culminating this month with Project Inspire, a transformational event made possible through the generosity NVIDIA and their hardworking employee-volunteers.

After an intensive envisioning process we are bringing our dreams to fruition! NVIDIA’s Project Inspire is a huge investment in our farm infrastructure, including new farm stands, packing shed, and outdoor demonstration area. 1,500 NVIDIA and community volunteers and City Year members joined farm staff and volunteers December 9th and 10th to build, paint, cultivate and plant. Their efforts will dramatically improve the farm’s productivity and impact and will bring us that much closer to fulfilling the enormous potential of Full Circle Farm. Please come by and see the changes.

Did you know that fifty percent of our revenue is earned income? Thirty percent of our budget is literally drawn out of the earth and derived from farm sales; and another twenty percent is earned from events, programs, and other services. This level of self-sufficiency is no small feat in the nonprofit world. More remarkable is that we have leveraged more than three dollars of in-kind support for every dollar donated this year!

2011′s impressive accomplishments have helped to secure a bountiful future; however, the farm currently needs $25,000 to reach our 2011 budget goal for individual donations. Economic circumstances have forced everyone to reassess priorities. While community commitment to Full Circle Farm’s mission is at an all-time high, the downturn has had a negative impact on charitable contributions to all nonprofits. We are hoping that you step forward as a lead supporter of the Full Circle Farm community and help us reach our year-end goal.

A thriving educational garden, a new children’s garden, a flourishing community orchard, fresh local healthy produce, a summer farm camp sponsored by Stanford University, a free summer Shakespeare festival, and opportunities for thousands of students, volunteers, and community members to become engaged in ways that are changing lives. Even local realtors have recognized our value, promoting Full Circle Farm as a boost to property values and a community asset!

With your support, we will be able to keep building this dream with our unique, fun and educational community events, programs, and partnerships:

  • - Earth Day (in our fifth year; this year partnering with the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce)
  • - Summer Shakespeare Festival (in our second year; partnering with the Mid-Peninsula Shakespeare Festival)
  • - Summer Farm Camp (in our second year; partnering with Stanford University)
  • - Healthy People, Healthy Gardens & Farms Initiative (in our fourth year; partnering with Kaiser Permanente)

Please help us continue to be a champion for change and transformation in our food system and make a contribution today-we will put your donation hard to work!

Sincerely,
