Help Make Green Dreams, Green Dome Come True

Meet Mohith Subbarao, an exceptional young man with an exceptional dream: he wants to build a giant green dome at Full Circle Farm. Mohith is a Life Scout aspiring to be an Eagle Scout whose talent and ambition to make a dream come true at Full Circle Farm is worthy of your support.

Builder of the Giant Green Dome

Mohith the Life Scout

“I am going to lead my Troop 535, Saratoga, CA,  in building a Green Dome in Full Circle Farms. The Green Dome is a steel structure on which Wisteria plants will grow to create a naturally shaded structure at the farm for the students who visit the farm throughout the year. It will be 12′ high, have a 75′ circumference, and provide shade for a 450 square feet area.

Currently, at Full Circle Farm, in the corner part where The Green Dome will be built, there are just a few benches in an open area. It’s quite hot there and there are strong winds. Wolfram Alderson is the Executive Director and Member of the Board of Directors at Sustainable Community Gardens (Full Circle Farms & Charles Street Gardens). He has given me the project concept and the blueprints for the structure, and is guiding me with this Green Dome Project. I anticipate this project to take 3 – 5 months, which includes 4 – 5 scout outings.

The cost is estimated to be around $3,200–funds that I need your help to raise.

The three major aspects of my project are procuring materials, building the dome (which includes welding), and planting the Wisteria (includes the Drip Irrigation System).”

The structure provides shade and a living habitat for people and wildlife. The perfect half sphere also provides a great way of teaching basic elements of geometry (e.g. radius, circumference, diameter, volume, etc.) in a dynamic multi-dimensional setting.
